This paper describes the work done during the last 3 years in the field of wireless communications for the railway industry. Specifically it illustrates the strategy followed for the management of broadband wireless communications in a hybrid network (mobile & radio). This management allows the optimization of both bandwidth and transmission rate of the applications deployed in the ground control stations (terrestrial applications) and train-side systems (train onboard applications). The new architecture proposed allows an easy and standard integration of applications and services both new and legacy.
