The ACROSS project modifies the design of social robotics, blocked in providing predefined services, going further by means of intelligent systems. These systems are able to self-reconfigure and modify their behavior autonomously through the capacity for understanding, learning and software remote access. ACROSS provides an Open-Source development community to exploit different technological advances, some of them initially unconnected with Robotics. Taking advantage of this synergy, ACROSS will be the starting point from which new standards in robot applications will be built. The main technological goals of ACROSS are the following: Improve emotional and cognitive capabilities of Social Robots. Context-awareness perception. Establish discovery, composition and execution services using Autonomic Computing Techniques. Open Source software architecture based on distributed components supported by an Open-Source Development Community. Swarm robotics module.

The DomoRIA (Domotic Rich Internet Applications) project defines a Web 2.0 platform to abstract and control the devices in a home automation deployment by means of a set of web gadgets integrated in a central control dashboard accessible and adaptable to the physical features of the target client (mobile or fixed). The main goals of the project are: Create a new platform based on RIA and web technologies to universally control the devices at a house. Adapt the control interfaces to the physical features of the devices used by the user following the approach “write an interface once and show it in different devices respecting its appearance and use”. Guarantee the extensibility of the control platform, allowing the new integration of devices following the approach Plug-and-play (PnP). Integrate the control platform which generates RIA interfaces for browsers in devices connected to Internet and mediates with the underlying home automation installation and its protocols. Such platform has to be inserted in small low powered embedded devices. For further information, please visit the DomoRIA website(http://www.tecnologico.deusto.es/projects/domoria/index_es.html).

The aim of the TALIS+ENGINE: Cooperative and Semantic Hybrid Reasoning for Service Orchestration in Reactive Environments subproject is to advance in the automatic or semi-automatic service composition within assistive environments with the goal of allowing in a spontaneous manner the environment adaptation to the concrete needs and goals of the user. Such adaptation of environment’s behaviour demands the adoption of cooperative, hybrid (symbolic and connectionist), adaptable and scalable (evolving being aware of the emerging and disappearing devices and their sensing and acting capabilities) intelligence techniques. The concrete objectives pursued by this sub-project of cooordinated project “TALISMAN+: Intelligent system for follow-up and promotion of personal autonomy” will be: Model the assistive needs of users and the reactive assistive capabilities they demand from the environment. Context-awareness perception. Detect and predict the assistive needs in order to act in consequence. React adapting the assistive environment behaviour according to the detected users goals and needs. For further information, please visit the TALISMAN website(http://www.morelab.deusto.es/talisman/).
